Hello,

Y!Epic (as of release v56) will support avatars, these are however turned off by default.

To enable these, you will need to go to the Tools menu, click Preferences, then click "Avatars" on the left.

Go to Incoming Avatar Permissions (tab) and select Enable All.

You can go back to Your Own Avatar (tab) to select your own, here you can select the library you wish to choose an avatar from, click catalogue, then double click to browse through the catalogues.

Y!Epic also has it's own repository now available, submission is here:

http://avatars.yimmense.com/

Please note you can launch that link directly from Y!Epic by selecting the Y!Epic database under Your Own Avatar (tab) then clicking Submit Your Own (button)!

There is also a filter system in place, to prevent the viewing of specific avatars, from specific databases. You will see the tab far right for the filter setup, where you can click add, and optionally add whichever avatar from whichever database you wish to filter. By default for example the YahELite database "yhlt" default avatar is filtered as all default YahELite users send this and it is incredibly annoying.

You can set specific permissions, linked directly to each unique database, so you tell it which databases to show if you have the avatar already downloaded, and which to automatically download from if you do not have it.

Below are some screenshots of the current user interface as of release 56 (due very shortly after this post):

Here is how it appears by default:

You will notice "None" is selected. This means you aren't sending an avatar.

Here we have selected the Y!Epic database, and the yepic.gif avatar!

Here we have selected the YahELite database, again selecting an avatar that I have downloaded via the catalogue, or that another user has used and is now present on your system due to the automatic download system being engaged!

This window will appear whenever you attempt to view a catalogue, to show you the current progress of the catalogue listing that is being downloaded. Smiley

This is the catalogue window, browsing the Y!Epic database. At present only the one avatar (at the time of this post) exists on the server, therefore it is the only one showing.

Here again we have the catalogue window/browser, browsing the more mature YahELite database, with a couple of downloaded avatars and one selected for preview.

The preview will appear blank until you download or select (by double clicking) an avatar in the preview window. Note that red = not downloaded, bold green = you have downloaded this avatar.

Here we have the permissions tab I was refering to earlier.

You can choose to individually disable particular databases both showing and automatic downloading here. There are the enable and disable all buttons to make life easier as the majority of people will simply wish to view all.

These are turned off by default which will prevent any incoming, or indeed outgoing avatar from showing or downloading, you need to manually enable these.

Here we have the filter tab, where you can see the filter list at present consists of one avatar from database "YahELite" of name "yhlt".

You can select and press remove to delete items from this listing, or entirely disable the filter by unticking the "Enable Filters" check box at the bottom left position on this screen.

Clicking add will bring up the detailed add window so you can hunt down which avatars you dislike, whether it be that they are too big, annoying, or utterly offensive to your eyes.

Here is the add to filter list selection window. It looks much like the one you use to select your own avatar, so you can browse each database and all existing avatars on your PC for that database, then filter by individuals specifically. This should negate any possibility of an offensive avatar causing you any stress if you want avatars on but somebody is purposely attempting to insult or offend you.

That's all for now!

Thanks, and enjoy Wink

Lee.

Notably any avatars uploaded to Y!Epic's own system are fully welcome to use animated gif's upto a maximum of 70 pixels high, and 70 pixels wide.

Thanks,

Lee. Smiley
